The English artist has carefully worked on the whole art direction of the products (including painting the cover artwork by hand), compiled the music selection and produced 2 new singles. The Spaghetti Western Collection represents the first comprehensive compilation of Spaghetti Western scores from seminal Italian label CAM Sugar: an instant classic and must-have album for soundtrack collectors, film lovers as well as sample and break heads, which will be thrilled with the rare cuts compiled.
Music-wise, the collection highlights the unique sound of Italian Western scores, which appropriated many elements of 1960s contemporary and rebel music and blended them with the sonic representation of the American landscape. These include sharp twangy guitars in surf-rock style, soul and beat drumming, cinematic horns, and a mesmerising and pioneering unconventional use of abstract vocals and instruments, as mastered by Ennio Morricone.
