Spawn was searching for answers when he found his ancestors journal and found out that his great-great-grandfather was a Buffalo Soldier and that he had crossed paths with another Hellspawn of that era, The Gunslinger Spawn of the West.
Jeremy Winston lived in the town of Bane. The wealthy business man of the town named Ed Kemper wanted to take Jeremy’s land from him. This action led to him killing Jeremy’s family and having him framed for the murders. He was hanged for the crime without a trial, but Mammon came to see him and promised to give him the power he needed to get vengeance and waited till he was close to death to see if he would make the choice or change his mind. Winston was turned into a Hellspawn and killed every man, woman and child in the town, but Mammon told him to leave Al’s ancestor alone and Winston felt that he was innocent. When his job was done he descended to hell.
After Making some cameos in future issues Gunslinger Spawn finally arrives into the present where he was taken into the future as Javi possessing a human host thanks to spawn’s actions in 301. There Gunslinger was confused on why he was there and then much more of his past is revealed in that he had a sister named Amy and had a rivalry with Cogliostro in the past and meets up with a new Redeemer who tells him that Heaven and Hell are still hunting him. He would soon meet Jessica Priest who is now she-spawn and Al Simmons the man who brought him into the current times and later decides to figure out on how to get back to his time and fix the problems here. He would star in his own series as he had encounter many people in his journey and eventually become a member of the scorched where he would team up with medieval Spawn, Redeemer, Reaper, Spawn and Jessica Priest for the problems in Russia and fighting off against Plague Spawn forces and the Sin-Devourer for answers while protecting Natasha and her friends including Sergei the new Soul Crusher.
As a hellspawn he has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability and a healing factor while his weakness is decapitation with holy weapons or supernatural material. He is also mastered guns and shooting along with riding motorcycles and horses.
