Sci Fi Western Outer Range Will Drop Its Second Season

Josh Brolin and the sci fi Western Outer Range will drop its second season on Thursday, May 16, but you can catch your first glimpse in the newly released trailer Prime Video released Monday.

Season 2 is comprised of seven episodes which will all be released at once. In addition, star and executive producer Brolin makes his directorial debut with the season’s penultimate episode, and Charles Murray (Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy) joins as a new EP and showrunner.

Outer Range will go deeper into the mystery surrounding the enigmatic void on the west pasture of the Abbott family ranch, as Royal (Brolin) and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance. The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts. Season 2 propels the characters deeper into the void with profound and unforeseen circumstances that could shake the very foundations of time itself.

Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable phenomenon at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness in the form of a dark void. “The mystery surrounding the enigmatic void on the west pasture of the Abbott family ranch deepens in Season 2, as Royal and his wife Cecelia struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance,” reads its official description. “The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts who now face threats on multiple fronts, propelling its characters deeper into the void with profound and unforeseen circumstances that could shake the very foundations of time itself.”

The cast also includes Imogen Poots, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton. Outer Range comes from executive producers Charles Murray, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ernest McNealey, Brolin, Tony Krantz, Heather Rae and Jon Paré.
